These selected Lidded Stack Pots were an exploration of cinerary vessels. My intentions were that as figurative pots, they literally and therefore expressively stood as surogates for lives lived. The interior volumes are considerably larger than the mass of typical human cremains and that "extra," "empty" volume alluded to the non-objective, intangible nature of the spirit. In that the ashes would rest in the "belly" of each pot the notion of regeneration or rebirth is invoked.
